Why i started Social Photography

I started Social Photography with a simple goal: to create a welcoming space where anyone—regardless of their gear, background, or experience—could come together and enjoy the art of photography.

I’ve always believed that creativity shouldn’t be limited by access or confidence, and I wanted to build something that encouraged growth, learning, and community. Whether someone’s using a smartphone or a DSLR, Social Photography is a place where ideas are shared freely, skills are developed collectively, and friendships are formed through our shared love of capturing moments. From photowalks to editing workshops to casual meet-ups, it’s all about connection—between people, places, and the lens we see the world through.

Social Photography hosts a variety of engaging events designed to make photography accessible and inspiring for everyone, regardless of experience. From relaxed monthly meet-ups in cities like Cambridge, London, and Newcastle, to hands-on photowalks and creative workshops covering everything from mobile photography to long exposure techniques, there's something for every skill level. These events foster learning, collaboration, and community—offering both casual and structured opportunities to grow as a photographer while connecting with others who share the same passion.

Welcoming photographers of all levels to come together, share ideas, and enjoy a relaxed day of shooting.     A nice mixture of informal and yet structured. The tips for starting point composition / settings was really useful, and in the style that meant we could also experiment and bring our own take on it. Gave me a taste for subject material on which I can build. Also was nice to chat photography with like minded people in a relaxed setting, there was no competition or rivalry, everyone trying to help each other.
