Why i started Social Photography

By Daniel (@south.south7)

I started Social Photography with a simple goal: to create a welcoming space where anyoneβ€”regardless of their gear, background, or experienceβ€”could come together and enjoy the art of photography.

I’ve always believed that creativity shouldn’t be limited by access or confidence, and I wanted to build something that encouraged growth, learning, and community. Whether someone’s using a smartphone or a DSLR, Social Photography is a place where ideas are shared freely, skills are developed collectively, and friendships are formed through our shared love of capturing moments. From photowalks to editing workshops to casual meet-ups, it’s all about connectionβ€”between people, places, and the lens we see the world through.

Events covering all aspects of photography

Social Photography hosts a variety of engaging events designed to make photography accessible and inspiring for everyone, regardless of experience. From relaxed monthly meet-ups in cities like Cambridge, London, and Newcastle, to hands-on photowalks and creative workshops covering everything from mobile photography to long exposure techniques, there's something for every skill level. These events foster learning, collaboration, and communityβ€”offering both casual and structured opportunities to grow as a photographer while connecting with others who share the same passion.

Photography meet-ups on the first Saturday of every month

Welcoming photographers of all levels to come together, share ideas, and enjoy a relaxed day of shooting. These gatherings take place in various UK citiesβ€”most often Cambridge, London, and Newcastleβ€”and offer a great chance to explore new locations, get inspired by others, and build lasting connections within the community.
